Living in Palmer Square

Historic Logan Square sits about five miles north and west of the Loop, and is one of Chicago real estate’s most diverse and popular neighborhoods. Built around a series of picturesque boulevards and parks, Logan Square is an area of classic properties, many of them lovingly rehabbed, and often offering exceptionally roomy floor plans and extended living spaces. Logan Square itself is actually a circle—formed by the intersection of Logan Boulevard, Kedzie Boulevard and Milwaukee Avenue—which holds the famous Illinois Centennial Memorial Column designed by Henry Bacon, architect of the Lincoln Memorial. Home to scores of well-known restaurants and shops, Logan Square is a thriving community that also hosts the Historic Mansion Housewalk in September, and the Taste of Logan Square in August.

Located within the Logan Square community is one of Chicago’s hippest neighborhoods, Bucktown. For years a haven for artists and artisans, today Bucktown is also home to a growing populace residing in restored buildings that include re-purposed warehouses, rehabbed three-flats and lofts converted into spacious condominiums. Expanding population notwithstanding, the artistic vibe continues in Bucktown. Gallery Point remains a progressive artistic center and host of the booming Bucktown Arts Fest every August. In addition to its variety of trendy shops and restaurants, Bucktown also boasts a large and diverse music scene (the Rolling Stones have been known to drop in unannounced at the Double Door).

Just west of Bucktown is Palmer Square, an enclave of greenery, with tree-lined roadways and beautiful 10-acre Palmer Square park. The neighborhood is home to an eclectic population of individuals and families.
